CFC Overseeing Development of Fort Bend Convention and Event Center

The Community Finance Corporation is overseeing the financing, design, construction and equipping of a new convention and event center in Rosenberg, Texas.

The Fort Bend County EpiCenter will host concerts, festivals, livestock shows, sporting events, conferences, graduations and similar events. It will also serve as a command center and shelter during extreme storms or other disasters.

The $101 million project will include a nearly 200,000-square-foot, 10,000-seat indoor main arena; a 20,000-square-foot event center; a 39,000-square-foot outdoor covered pavilion; a 51,000-square-foot concourse level; and a surface parking lot with an estimated 2,500 parking spaces on 52 acres of land owned by Fort Bend County. It is scheduled to open in August 2023.

CFC is using tax-exempt bonds issued by the nonprofit Greater Texas Cultural Education Facilities Finance Corporation and will lease the facility to Fort Bend County, which will manage the facility and use rental fees and other revenues to fund the lease payments. Once the bonds are repaid by 2050, Fort Bend County will take ownership of the facility.
